Even hearty Manitobans have had trouble enduring these extreme temperatures we have been bombarded with lately.
Each of us has our own way to try and boost our spirits, be it retail therapy, exercise or trying something new.
I developed dystonia 17 years ago, a neurological condition. It affects my eyelids: they want to close. So, I go to an ophthalmologist/plastic surgeon to get medical Botox injections into my eyelids, every three months. This helps tremendously, but it’s nothing I look forward to.
Over the years, I felt that the dystonia has shifted my face a bit, where it sometimes looks like I’ve had a stroke. I have not!
I decided to try fillers to attack this issue. Many individuals go for cosmetic treatments to help them look their best.
No judgement here, but I, who has now tried injections, to plump up my skin or eliminate marionette lines, feel restored after a treatment. It gives me a physical and mental uplifted feeling. Am I vain? That’s the last thing I’d classify myself as.
It’s not specifically about fighting aging for me. There are many individuals, who like to view this as an investment in themselves, the same way exercise is or engaging in creative endeavours, learning a new language, etc.
I’ve had a rough two years of surgeries and nearly died from sepsis.
It was time to reward myself to a few therapies that would help me restore my self-confidence. I looked tired after my health crisis. And that’s exactly what it did. It perked me up.
This is where RN nurse Holly Vézina came into my life. She, along with a partner, have started up their own company called Advanced Cosmetics and Laser, with locations in Selkirk and on St. Anne’s Road.
Holly was one of Winnipeg’s first nurse injectors, carrying out her craft for 20 years out of a 42 year varied nursing background.
Her attention and precision plus experience, make her work artistry. She can look at your face and suggest where to apply what, to reach that perfect look you are trying to achieve.
What I find with her, is a calming, knowledgeable person, who not only loves what she does, but she’s gifted at it. Her talent is reflected on the many faces she treats.
“I get such satisfaction from my job as I deliver natural, confidence boosting results through precision artistry.” Holly indicated with a huge smile across her face. And yes, she can move her face. “I get to watch individuals leave with a bounce in their step, feeling more self-assured, than when they initially arrived.”
It’s thrilling to open a new clinic on St. Anne’s Road besides the one existing in Selkirk, and to welcome existing clients back and to meet new individuals seeking specialized treatment.
They are offering a variety of services, but what you get with Holly is nearly two decades of experience and she stays up to date with new procedures. They now offer laser treatments and are one of two operators in Manitoba with a Secret Duo laser, which boosts collagen and evens out skin tone. Have a review of their brochure which outlines what they provide, including testimonials and before and after photos.
