1.A most recent post shows a bookshelf containing a history of Palestinians in the region as full, but a book shelf containing the history of the Jewish state and Jewish people in the region as completely empty. Is this post not hateful and does it not exhibit clear prejudice, and intolerance by claiming that only the Palestinians have historical roots in the region, but the Jewish people have absolutely none? (there is not even one book on the shelf for the Jewish people) Why would the CMHR chose to have an individual on its advisory committee when that individual completely direspects the connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel, which is evidenced by Jewish people living in this land for over 3000 consecutive years, supported by archaeological ,and DNA evidence and the bible itself? Why would the CMHR want Ramsey Zeid on its advisory committee when he is unwilling to accept that Jews are an indigenous people to the land of Israel and is completely deligitimizing Israel's very existence? If the Museum strongly supports the right to self determination for the Jewish people as it says it does, why would it choose to legitimize Zeid and his radical hateful posts by having him serving as an "advisor" on the Museum's Palestinian advisory committee?
Zionism is the belief that the Jewish people have the right to self determination. If the CMHR ' strongly supports the right of the Jewish people to self-determination" as it says it does [in correspondene dated Jan 7,2025] , why would it allow Zeid to be on its Palestinian advisory committee when he is saying that Zionism must be destroyed, which would mean Jews are not entitled to a state of their own in their ancestral homeland? Further, does the CMHR believe that it is fair, respectful and decent to say that Zionism is the root of all problems in the Middle East( how in the world was Zionism/ Israel responsible for the Syrian civil war, the Arab spring in Egypt, Saudi Arabia's war with Yemen, the War in Iraq to name but a few conflicts. Why would would the CMHR legitimize and sanction such posts by having Ramsey Zeid serve on its advisory committee?
4. The Winnipeg Jewish Review has combed through all of Zeid's posts since ,2023 and can not find any statement suggesting he agrees with Canada's long standing position advocating a two state solution ? Is the CMHR able to point to one such statement? If not, then ought the CMHR to try to find a Palestinian who backs a two state solution and put he or she on its advisory committee rather than Zeid? Shouldn't the CMHR be looking for moderates not hateful radicals to be on its advisory committee?
6. There is video of Ramsey Zeid encouraging 4 young male children to lead a public chant of "All Zionists are racists". Since the CMHR says it strongly supports the right of the Jewish people to self determination, why would it have Zeid on its Palestinian advisory committee who not only believes that anyone who thinks Israel ought to exist is a racist, but further is imparting this hateful view onto children in his community? Why would he be a trusted advisor to the CMHR when this is what he is teaching children?
7. On ,2024 CPAM made a facebook post praising the "leader of the resistance" Sinwar–saying he "did not hide in the shadows". Does the CMHR find it acceptable to be associated with an individual or group that is praising a terrorist, when the CMHR wrote that to the Winnipeg Jewish Review [on Jan 7,2025] that it "condemns terrorism." [Note also, albeit this was not specifically referred to in the exchange with the CMHR, CPAM also made a post admiring Yehiya Sinwar, the mastermind behind the Oct 7 attacks that slaughtered innocent people, including Canadians. He says Sinwar is “resistance leader” and “martyr.” Zeid also posts a poster ”Stop Condemning Oct 7.”]
8. If I posted publicly that Palestinians were a disease, were all racists, have no history, were responsible for all the problems in the Middle East, and if I further indoctrinated Jewish children with these beliefs , would you elevate me and my toxic views by putting me on an advisory committee to the CMHR?
There are other posts of Ramsey Zeid's I can refer to, but I think you get the drift. I look forward to hearing from you.
The inquiry was copied to Isha Khan of the CMHR. Rorie McLeod, Director, Public Affairs replied on March 7, 2025 that Zeid's opinions, " do not necessarily reflect the views of the Museum." In other words a federally funded Museum could not say that Zionism, the right of the Jewish people to self deterimation, is not a disease! See McLead's statement below:
