Cairo (Islam Times) – Camelia Sadat, daughter of former President Anwar Sadat said that her father expressed his wish to die three months before his assassination, claiming that his mission in life was over “to hold the peace agreement with Israel and to restore Sinai to Egyptian sovereignty”.

Islam Times: Camellia said in an interview with the Israeli Army Radio in her home in Cairo which was aired on Friday at 7 GMT, that «He said to me: you know, Camellia, I wish to die now, this way I will be very happy”. Camellia said that her father added: “I made war and succeeded in recovering the dignity. Each person was created in this world to perform a mission, and I have performed mine”.

Camellia, one of three daughters fathered by Sadat from his first wife, Iqbal Madi, which he separated from to marry Jihan Sadat, was in Boston on October 6, 1981, on the day of assassination of her father. She was completing her undergraduate studies there, and was following the news sequence for the assassination of Sadat on television. She pointed out that «Dan radar», the CBS announcer said that the news and links indicate that President Sadat was shot in the arm, but that her heart knew that her father had died.

About the visit of her father to Jerusalem in November 1977, Camellia said to a correspondent for the Israeli Army Radio for the Arab Affairs Jackie Huggi: “On the day that he left to Israel, we all went to the house of my mother, as we did in the war, and we saw the television. We were scared that he gets killed. We absolutely did not believe that an Israeli will kill him, we said that whoever will do that will be one of the enemies of peace. We though the Israelis will not kill him, but will protect him as they protect themselves”.
