On January 19th, Boston-based Filmmaker Gloria Greenfield will be our guest to screen and discuss her new film Body and Soul: The State of the Jewish Nation, a study of the biblical and historical connection between the Jewish People and the Land of Israel.
“This film was necessary to make as a way to understand the centrality of Israel to the Jewish identity,” Greenfield told The Jerusalem Post, saying she wanted to clarify the connection and review the legal history of Jewish rights to the land. “The campaigns to erase Jewish history are getting stronger, and even though their arguments make no sense, if its repeated enough people will buy it,” she said, pointing to the statements made by PA President Mahmoud Abbas that “Jesus was a Palestinian.”
The film demonstrates the consistent Jewish tie to the land of Israel for the last three thousand years through interviews with an array of expert scholars. Given the lack of basic historical knowledge on the part of growing numbers of people and the increasing secularism in Western societies, resulting in a disconnection from biblical history and mythology, Body and Soul provides a necessary education.
Please join us on Monday, January 19, 2015 @ 7:30 pm in the Berney Theatre at the Asper Jewish Community Campus (123 Doncaster). Following the film, Dr. Chatterley and Gloria Greenfield will lead a question and answer period of discussion.
